I hope you’re feeling lucky because it’s lottery season! Here are important lotteries opening/closing in March:
- Mt. Whitney: closes March 1 (tips)
- The Enchantments: closes March 1 (tips)
- Half Dome: March 1–31 (tips)
- Yellowstone: March 1–20
- Mt. Rainier: closes March 3
- North Cascades: March 2–13
- Glacier: March 15
- Yosemite: weekly (tips)
And permit releases:
- Rocky Mountain: March 1
- Indian Peaks Wilderness: March 3
- Zion (including the Narrows): March 5

Entrance reservations
In 2026, most parks won’t require entrance reservations. This includes Yosemite, Arches, Glacier, and Rocky Mountain National Parks. Rocky Mountain National Park will continue to require entrance reservations. We’re still waiting to hear about Mount Rainier National Park.
California
